Because our core purpose is to “prepare students for a principled and useful life in this world and the next,” service to others is a top priority at ANC. Community service is integrated into our curriculum, so students serve side-by-side with fellow students in classes, with our community service club, and through our distinctive Senior Project course.
At ANC, there are many opportunities for students to become involved in service both on campus and in the surrounding community. In addition to Delta Mu, our community service club, our students participate in community service through our Campus Clubs: Alpha Kappa Mu, DEKA, Phi Alpha, and Sigma Delta Pi. Students also participate in service through many different organizations in neighboring communities.
Delta Mu is our community service club at ANC. The name is derived from the first letters of the Greek words for "serve" and "learn."
The motto of Delta Mu is "Learn to serve, serve to learn." The colors of Delta Mu are all colors, representing the variety of talents and qualities each individual has to offer as well as the infinite number of uses to be served.
Delta Mu plays several roles on campus—they serve as a record keeping organization, documenting hours for students who perform community service on their own, they coordinate opportunities for students and faculty to serve others, and they educate students about how to serve both by experiencing it and by acquiring the skills necessary for successful service.
